Whats better?
I'd say KENT.
Essex has generally much nicer places and Kent has some absolute toilets, but a lot of the people in Essex are cunts (if you get personally offended by this, this probably includes you)
By producing programs like TOWIE and having an entire genre of jokes made about the women there, if anyone says they're from Essex they immediately get thought to be a bit dim (even if they're not). On the other hand, because of Royal Tonbridge Wells and the name as "the garden of England", everyone thinks Kent is posh.
Kent also has coastal national treasures like the white cliffs of Dover. Essex has Jaywick
Entering Kent from Essex you go over an amazingly tall bridge with views over the Thames seeing the capital. Entering Essex from Kent you go under a shitty dirty old tunnel.
Also bluewater is better than lakeside.

Also transport links going east into essex are worse than going southeast into kent.
C2c is always fucked and ends up in Shuebury (full of smackheads)
Network south east isn't as bad and ends up in Hastings (full of history and good nightlife etc)

Got to see a fair bit of Kent last year, and admit I hadn’t properly appreciated it before. Kent defo has better coastal towns.
The train links from Stratford to Kent, are very good. But living in Essex gets me easily to Suffolk, one of my favourite places.
Also have Epping Forest on my doorstep. Does Kent have anything comparable to that?

Id say Kent is better, it's much bigger too. For good or for bad though Essex does have a strong identity which in the days of boring homogenisation I see as a good thing.
I see accusers and Liverpool in the same way

The history of Kent is funnier.
"Legend has it that, while marching from the 1066 battle site at Hastings, William marched on to London on his way to the (then) capital Winchester. While passing through Kent, the local people picked up branches and marched at William's men. Scared, William and his army took flight and took a different route to London. As the people of Kent felt that they had chased William away, they adopted "Invicta" as a county motto."
Blatently, the Conqueror wasn't scared, but took pity on a bunch of gurning yokels clutching bits of tree. Probably didn't stop laughing until he got to London.

I like the fact that there are a fair few Hammers in Kent, ‘wall territory really.
I can’t imagine there are that many ‘wall in Essex.
